Blue Star Programme

What is it all about?

The Blue Star Programme is an education initiative for primary school pupils across Ireland. The programme aims to foster a strong sense of awareness of the EU that reaches far beyond the school walls and out into the wider community. In order to be awarded the Blue Star and our very own European Union Flag our class will need to carry out projects in relation to the history, geography, culture, creativity and institutions of the EU. These classroom projects and activities will form an action plan designed by our teacher Ms. Doyle. The plan must incorporate elements that include information about the foundation and development of the European Union, the cultural diversity of Europe, what the EU does and how its work actually affects the lives of citizens.

Ms. Doyle's 4th class are leading this exciting programme in our school. It is Cullina's first year participating and so we are going to work really hard to succeed in earning Cullina N.S. a European Union flag of our very own!

We have been learning about the EU since October and so will need to update you all on all our activities since then. Please check for updates on a regular basis and in the meantime while you wait please take a look at our class blog.....
