Music – Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Eirinn in the Classroom

Music, Dance and Drama

Cullina N.S. has nurtured a strong musical tradition since its foundation. An appreciation of the performing arts from earliest times has been encouraged, which is still central to the schools ethos today. The pupils are very fortunate to be exposed to a wide variety of music, dance and drama and all children are taught the tin whistle. The children are encouraged to put their talents and abilities to practice by performing at our school masses, Christmas concerts, Seachtain Na Gaeilge and at all other functions that take place throughout the school year.

We have invited Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann to come into our school and engulf our classrooms in Music.  Each child is afforded an opportunity to become part of our school band.  A highly qualified and talented teacher Mr Brendan O Sullivan  visits the school each week and teaches children in all classes.

This of course is in addition to the ordinary Music Class which the Class Teacher will continue to do as part of the curriculum. The purpose of these lessons is to encourage all children to come together and perform as a whole group
